This is an important update regarding The International Chemical Congress of Pacifichem Basin Societies 2020 (Pacifichem 2020). The COVID-19 pandemic has forced us to rethink the Congress from the attendee’s safety, travel, and experience perspective and the safety of the surrounding community. After thorough investigation and candid discussions, we believe it inadvisable to continue this event as originally planned for December 2020. Instead, the Pacifichem Congress has been rescheduled and will now take place December 16 – 21, 2021 in Honolulu, HI, USA.
The following is an updated timeline for the 2021 Congress
Pacifichem 2021 Timeline:
- July 7, 2020: SUSPENSION of abstract review and symposium program formulation
- January 4, 2021: Call for abstracts opens
- February 2, 2021: Housing reservations open
- April 12, 2021: Call for abstracts closes
- June 22, 2021: Registration opens for discounted pricing
- October 2021: Technical program published online and in the Congress mobile application
- October 20, 2021: Discounted registration closes, regular registration pricing opens
- November 16, 2021: Housing reservations close
- December 16 – 21, 2021: Pacifichem 2021 Congress held in Honolulu, HI
How does this affect me as an author and abstract submitter?
All abstracts submitted to the Pacifichem online submission site will be held confidentially for author’s convenience within the Pacifichem Online Submission system. The call for abstracts will re-open in January – April 2021 to encourage additional submissions. At that time, you may also make edits to existing submissions and resubmit prior to the submission deadline. Following the 2021 call for abstracts, symposium organizers will finalize the scientific program for publication in September 2021. Until the scientific program is published in September 2021, all submitted abstracts remain unpublished and not in the public domain, with intellectual property rights of abstract authors properly protected.
If at any time you would like to withdraw your submitted abstract from consideration, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to make this request. Kindly include your abstract Control ID with all withdrawal requests.
How does this affect me if I also submitted my abstract to the Student Research Competition?
Eligibility for the Student Research Competition will continue to students who graduated in 2020, with the exception of those applicants who choose to withdraw their abstract from consideration.
How does this affect me as a symposium organizer?
All accepted symposia will be retained as approved by the Pacifichem Scientific Subcommittee. There will be no call for additional symposia, nor any modifications to existing accepted symposia. Any requests to change or withdraw a symposium will be reviewed by the Scientific Program Subcommittee. With Congress rescheduling decided, however, some symposium organizers might like to modify or possibly withdraw their symposia, and therefore, CSOs will have until October 1 to make changes or withdraw
All abstracts submitted to the Pacifichem Online Submission site will be held confidentially within the Pacifichem Online Submission system. Access to the abstracts is now closed to everyone including symposium organizers until the call for abstract review. The call for abstracts will re-open January-April 2021 to receive additional submissions.
All abstracts are accordingly considered unpublished and not in the public domain during the review-suspension period, so as for the intellectual properties and the propriety rights of abstract authors to be properly protected.
Abstract review and final scheduling of presentations has been rescheduled to April 2021.
