Pacifichem 2021 brings together seven Pacific Basin Chemical Societies in a spirit of cooperation to showcase more than 10,000 scientific presentations from the frontiers of chemical science. Owing to the COVID 19 pandemic, the original face-to-face meeting scheduled for Dec 2020 has been rescheduled to Dec 16-21, 2021, with the addition of a virtual component for those unable to travel to Hawaii. These delays, and the addition of a remote participation venue have led to significant unanticipated costs, necessitating a virtual participation fee of $149 student or $499 member – higher than the planning committee would like, but hopefully sufficient for financial survival. The support of all Pacifichem session organizers, speakers, poster presenters and attendees who are working hard through a period of significant disruption to make this the most outstanding Pacifichem program ever is appreciated.
