Student Research Competition abstracts will be judged on how well they convey the purpose and importance of the research in a written format.
The deadline to enter the Pacifichem 2025 Student Research Competition has passed.
To be eligible for the competition:
Candidates must have an abstract accepted into one of the technical symposia or into one of the general poster sessions to be eligible for the Student Research Competition.
Candidates also must be registered to attend the Pacifichem Congress by October 12, 2025 to be eligible for the Student Research Competition.
Candidates must be either:
- a Graduate Student: A Graduate student is a student working toward a post-baccalaureate or post-graduate diploma or qualification granted by a college or university. The student is working toward, for example, a Master’s (MS) or Doctoral (Ph.D.) degree in chemistry or a related field of science.
OR
- an Undergraduate Student: An Undergraduate is a student working toward a post-secondary diploma or qualification granted by a college or university. The student is working within a course of study toward, for example, a Bachelor of Arts (BA) or Bachelor of Sciences (BS or BSc) degree in chemistry or other field of science.
These qualification criteria apply to the student status as of April 2025.
Post-Doctoral Fellows, research associates, and non-students are not eligible for the Student Research Competition.
Upcoming Student Research Competition Timeline
September 30, 2025: Deadline to enter the Student Research Competition
November 2025: Finalists are notified and invited to submit their recorded video presentation (maximum 3 minutes)
December 1, 2025: Prseentation videos are due to the Pacifichem Organizing Committee
December 15-20, 2025: Winners from each topic area will be announced daily during the Pacifichem 2025 Congress event.
December 18, 2025: Special Lunch event for Student Research Competition finalists.
