Symposium Proposal Round Two is now open for submissions. The deadline for symposium proposals is April 10, 2024.

Symposium Guidelines

Symposium proposals will be reviewed based on the following guidelines:

  •  The Pacifichem 2025 scientific program will be scheduled during the period Monday, December 15 through Saturday, December 20, 2025.
  • Each symposium must have a minimum of three co-organizers who are from different Pacific Rim countries AND are members of the Pacifichem 2025 Cosponsoring Societies or Official Participating Organizations . One shall be designated as the “Corresponding Symposium Organizer (CSO),” and all correspondence (e-mail) relating to the symposium will be directed to this contact person. It is the responsibility of the CSO to keep all other co-organizers informed.
  • All symposia are managed through the Pacifichem 2025 Abstracts System.
  • A symposium should have a title and a 150-300 word description of the topics to be covered in the technical sessions.
  • Symposium will have no more than five half-day daytime oral sessions. Additional oral and/or poster sessions may be considered by the Organizing Committee to be scheduled in the evenings.
  • Because there will be no oral General Sessions, organizers are requested to accommodate as many contributed oral papers as possible. At least 40% of symposium time should be allotted to contributed oral presentations. We recommend no more than 4 invited speakers per half- day session.
  • Each half-day oral session will have a maximum duration of 4 hours. Evening sessions, if available, will be 2 hours in duration.
  • An individual speaker may deliver no more than 2 invited presentations or 3 presentations (2 invited plus 1 contributed) during the congress. Co-authorship has no limit.
  • Pacifichem 2025 will provide voucher codes for 2 complimentary speaker registrations per approved half-day session, with a maximum of 4 per symposium. Symposia organizers are encouraged to dedicate at least one complimentary registration code to a member of an underrepresented community and/or an early career chemist. Organizers are encouraged to solicit sponsorships for additional support.
  • Organizers are expected to adhere to the Pacifichem diversity and inclusion statement goals:
    • Include a minimum of 30% of under-represented groups in science
    • Incorporate expertise from a range of Pacific Rim countries
    • Include speakers from all stages of career
